Am absolutely hooked. I will admit, yesterday morning I was certainly deflated when I did not see the new chapter in my inbox. The relief this morning upon seeing today’s post was palpable. “I psychically tried to steer them towards the Nuts and Chews collection”. It’s still a mystery that Sees gives so much real estate to these lesser squares. ❤️
Oh, how i love and share your experience, in my tiny village of (now 1000) 950 people when i arrived 24 years ago. And how I de facto became the American consulate - the mayor asking me to explain the philosophy of Condoleza Rice, as well as US policy on many subjects and the currency exchange for Bar des Sports when Americans sit for drinks and pay with US Dollars.
People sometimes think that French people hate Americans but I have found that not to be true at all. We’re an object of fascination to them as much as they are to us. It’s kind of jazzy being an American living in France if you have some perspective on your home country.
I feel you on the disappearing Almond Squares! I’ve taken to hiding the See’s Candies box when people come over. The French may be discriminating when it comes to chocolate, but they are also greedy. I learned this the hard way, watching a nearly full box of California Brittle disappear in under 10 minutes 😩
Hahaha. I now go to a See’s shop somewhere in LA most times I’m back and get a full box of JUST almond and peanut squares and I don’t always let people know about it.
