What a delight to read of your time in one of my favorite cities in Morocco. It's a strangely special place and I love that everyone is running off to Marrakesh, leaving Rabat the way it is.
Way back in the mid 70’s, I was in Rabat with a bunch of pro golfers and their wives, along with a bunch of Europeans and Americans, and wives/girl friends, who were there for a Pro-Am golf tournament. My assignment was to act as an interpreter on the many shopping trips, and to help when French was needed. The tournament was sponsored by Hassan II, the father of your “thirsty” king. Mohammed VI was a teenager at the time, but when he presented the heavily jewel-encrusted gold dagger, along with a nice fat check, to the winning pro, I was right there to meet the handsome young prince. This post stirred a bunch of memories, especially remembering the tagines and couscous.
there is a lot of goss about M6. we have to get out the pictures of your trips when i am back home. the one with you and mac davis deserves a renaissance.
So glad you are sharing your crystalline observations and that your memory is full of those fine details for our pleasure.
A wonderful read as always. Thankyou.

Yep. Mac was such a good guy. I’ll look for the photo with a teenage M6 in it as well
think of the points you will score the next time you come to france.
