Hello to all you kind souls. I asked, you answered. It did my heart much good to read all your comments, which were encouraging and generous.
So OK, here is the plan: next week we will close out this memoir. I will write its last chapter. From there on out, expect something loosely imagined as a Letter from France every other weekend. There will be news of the people you have come to know. There will be less chronologically-bound musings on other Perche-y things as they pop up. There will be bigger-picture French stuff. It’ll be a salade composée. (Anyone who has eaten at my table knows this is one of my strengths.)
We will resolutely and firmly keep this a weekend read in spirit. It will not have the hysterical tone of breaking news; it will remain reflective and a little roundabout. (Remember: France is the country with the most roundabouts in the world. I read that somewhere.)
And so we’ll see what this becomes. Such is the fun of this medium: watching things evolve.
I loved hearing from so many of you. Always happy to hear more.
Oh, and of course, there will be cats.
Hurray!!! I look forward to this evolution
Alex whatever interests you, interests me. I love the idea of traveling along with you and learning about your life (which is currently QUITE different from mine!)
